The secret life of Great Wood
This is a really good first session to your stay as you get to explore the beautiful surroundings of the camp. We go out to explore the woods and get to know the wildlife. We’ve got everything: adders, red deer, woodpeckers and even dormice – and our ant hills have to be seen to be believed!
You’ll also find out about our wonderful trees, wild flowers and fungi, and how everything relies on everything else to survive. We’ll also tell you about The Forestry Commission and how they look after Great Wood. Let us know what you need, and we’ll make sure your visit is just right.
Durations and routes are adapted to suit the group, we have a very flexible approach at getting young people out walking and exploring without them realising they are.
Suitable for all ages Please wear strong footwear, preferably walking boots.
Location: Great Wood, woods.
